Lorca is a beautiful city in the autonomous community of Murcia, southern Spain that most famously features the Castle of Lorca of medieval origin (9th – 15th Century), considered a site of cultural interest, along with the Collegiate church dedicated to St. Patrick. In the Middle Ages the city of Lorca was the frontier city between Christian and Muslim Spain. Other places to visit is the Palacio de Guevara built in 1964, a superb example of baroque architecture, the Teatro Guerra 1861, Casino Artístio y Literario 1885 and Plaza de Toros in 1892.
Elevation of 370m2, population of 93,000 and situated on the southern slopes of the Sierra del Cano mountains with the Guadalentín River the flows through the town and down to the nearest seaport being Águilas (36km away).
